Police have shared more details about an incident in which a flight bound for Mexico was delayed from taking off from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) this weekend due to unruly passengers on board.
The Vancouver Airport Authority told 1130 NewsRadio that police were called about the issue aboard a WestJet flight around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
“RCMP responded to reports of a group of passengers behaving in an unruly manner onboard flight WS2662 bound for Cabo San Lucas,” said senior communications specialist Aline Dumalski.
“They responded on scene to remove the group.”
In an update Tuesday, the Richmond RCMP said officers arrested 10 people in the incident.

“The passengers were alleged to be non-compliant with flight crew instructions, creating safety concerns and resulting in a delay to the flight,” said police.
Mounties reportedly worked with the airline crew to de-escalate the situation and deboard passengers.
The Richmond RCMP says it’s recommending the individuals be charged with failing to comply with flight crew instructions under the Aeronautics Act and mischief under the Criminal Code.
All 10 have been released but are scheduled to appear in Richmond Provincial Court.
Police say no one was reported injured in the incident, and, according to YVR’s website, the plane was rescheduled to take off around 9:30 a.m.
