Police have shared more details about the victim targeted in a fatal daylight shooting in Surrey Monday afternoon.
The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says the incident occurred at a building complex near the intersection of 130 Street and 76 Avenue shortly after 3 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a man apparently suffering from gunshot wounds.
“Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced deceased on scene,” said Sgt. Lindsey Houghton.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) launched an investigation upon arrival.
In an update Tuesday, IHIT says it has identified the victim as “a man in his 30s, who was at his place of work at the time of the shooting.”

He was inside a business on the second floor of the building at the time of the shooting.
It says he had no criminal history and was not previously the target of any reported threats or extortion.
Investigators are reportedly working with the victim’s family to establish background information and the circumstances of the shooting.
Sgt. Freda Fong described the shooting as “brazen” and showing a complete disregard for safety.
“Investigators are actively pursuing a number of priority tasks to identify those involved,” said Fong.
