Police dismantle drug lab in Abbotsford

A joint police operation executed a search warrant at an Abbotsford property Thursday, dismantling a clandestine drug lab and locating several illegal weapons.

Officers of the Illegal Firearms Enforcement Team (IFET), the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), and the Abbotsford Police Department (Abby PD) joined the operation.

Additionally, the RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) Team was called to assist in ensuring the property was safe before entering the premises.

“This search warrant was part of an ongoing firearms and drug trafficking investigation,” said CLEAR media relations officer Sgt. Sarbjit K. Sangha.

He did not say where in Abbotsford the operation was conducted.

“Given the nature of the investigation, the execution of the search warrant required a coordinated and strategic approach to ensure the safety of the public, police officers, and all individuals involved,” Sangha added.

“We understand that operations of this nature can be concerning for residents and disruptive to the surrounding community.”

The authorities did not provide any information on whether any of the weapons or drugs were seized.
