Two motorcyclists are fighting for their lives in connection with two separate collisions that occurred Friday night in the Gaspé Peninsula and the Laurentians.
Emergency services were called Friday evening, around 8:30 p.m., to go to the Tour du Lac road in Nominingue, in the Laurentians.
“For a reason that remains unknown at this time, the motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle. He is a man in his twenties,” said Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The man, who was alone on his vehicle, was transported to a hospital. His health condition was considered critical at the time.
Two hours earlier, emergency services were called to another motorcyclist, this time in Gaspé.
“It happened around 6:30 p.m. Emergency services went to Pointe Navarre Boulevard, in Gaspé, following the discovery of a man found unconscious near a motorcycle. The man in his fifties had suffered serious injuries,” said Sergeant Dorsainville.
The fifty-year-old was in critical condition when he was transported to the hospital.
“The circumstances need to be clarified in order to try to understand what led to the man’s injuries and whether another vehicle was involved,” said the SQ spokeswoman.
Pointe Navarre Boulevard, which is in fact Route 132 at this location, was closed to traffic until around 11:15 p.m.
The Sûreté du Québec’s investigations into these two events are continuing.
