Late Sunday night, a woman was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries following a pedestrian-related incident in a parking lot at a Mississauga plaza. Peel police reported that the incident stemmed from a dispute between two drivers.
Emergency responders from Peel paramedics were alerted to the area near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Eglinton Avenue West at 11:50 p.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck. The injured woman was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.
CityNews received confirmation from police officers that they were called to the same plaza around 11:53 p.m. on Sunday. The altercation occurred shortly after a verbal confrontation between the two involved drivers.
The investigation revealed that the woman, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was not deliberately hit or run over but was inadvertently dragged a short distance by the moving vehicle. The driver initially left the scene but promptly contacted authorities afterward.
As of now, no arrests have been made, but police have indicated that charges could be forthcoming as the inquiry progresses. There are currently no road closures in effect.
