Braeden Caley, a seasoned Liberal political staffer from British Columbia, emerged victorious in the federal byelection for North Vancouver Capilano, marking the Liberals’ third win of the evening.
The North Vancouver riding has long been a stronghold for the Liberals, with former cabinet minister Jonathan Wilkinson securing a landslide victory with nearly 60% of the vote in the previous election.
Following Wilkinson’s resignation as a Member of Parliament to assume the role of Canada’s ambassador to the European Union, Caley, a trusted Liberal aide with a diverse background within the party, seized the opportunity to run for the vacant seat.
Having played pivotal roles within the Liberal party, including his recent position as deputy chief of staff to Prime Minister Mark Carney, Caley’s win signals a continuation of Liberal dominance in North Vancouver Capilano.
