Severe Weather Causes Disruption on Toronto Transit Routes
Subway service along Line 1 Yonge-University in Toronto faced major disruptions during the evening rush due to flooding following a heavy storm on Wednesday.
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) has announced that there is currently no service between St. Clair West and St. George stations as a result of the flooding. Additionally, St. Patrick station is not being served due to high water levels.
Further complicating the situation, there is a service interruption between College and Eglinton stations due to an unspecified operational issue that is not confirmed to be storm-related.
On Line 6, the section between Finch West and Humber College stations is also affected by debris on the tracks, leading to a halt in service on that route.
Commuters traveling on the Milton GO line should expect delays of up to one hour due to weather-related track conditions. The disruption is located just east of Kipling GO, and trains are unable to pass through until clearance is granted.
In a statement, GO Transit assured passengers that safety is the top priority, with trains being held at stations until it is safe to resume operations. Efforts are underway to reopen the tracks promptly once conditions improve.
Minor delays have been reported on several other transit lines, including Lakeshore East, Barrie, and Stouffville.
