Montreal is buzzing with anticipation for a night filled with laughter, courtesy of the talented comedian Sugar Sammy who is bringing together a lineup of top local comedians for the highly anticipated second annual All-Star Gala.
Organized by MTL Comedy Club in collaboration with Straight Outta Montreal, this vibrant showcase will feature a group of five rising stars in the comedy scene.
Expressing his excitement, comedian Akeem Hoyte Charles shared, “I feel incredibly honored and thrilled. This event marks a significant milestone in my career among all the things I’ve accomplished.”
Hoyte Charles, known for his infectious humor, hails from Châteauguay just outside Montreal and currently calls Vancouver home. He kickstarted his comedy journey nine years ago with an unexpected twist of events.
Reflecting on his beginnings, he humorously recalled, “It all started on a dark stormy day when I ventured into comedy merely to prove someone wrong about my abilities. I bombed on my first attempt at a local show, with no one paying attention. However, the following week at the comedy club, things took a positive turn, and I performed exceptionally well.”
Joining Hoyte Charles at the gala are a talented lineup of hand-picked comedians: Gino Durante, Quinn Lague, Seby Jacob, and Ben Cardilli, all of whom have been shining bright with their performances.
Cardilli, one of the featured comedians, shared his excitement, “After a series of auditions, I was thrilled to learn that my set had been selected for the main stage. I am truly looking forward to this opportunity.”
Prior to delving into comedy, Cardilli, who transitioned from a music background and even appeared on La Voix’s season six, humorously mentioned, “I found myself at ease engaging with the audience between songs to the extent that my bandmates would jokingly suggest I should save it for my solo act.”
The All-Star Gala is not just a night of laughter but also a platform to introduce Montreal’s freshest and most entertaining comedic talents, showcasing the vibrancy of the city’s comedy scene.
Hosted by Sugar Sammy, tickets for the event scheduled on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at Salle Pierre-Mercure are now available for purchase, promising a night full of laughter and entertainment.
