Two additional teenagers have been taken into custody in relation to the tragic stabbing incident that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy in the eastern part of the city earlier this summer.
Emergency responders were alerted near Eastern Avenue and Coxwell Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. on July 5, where they discovered Abdoul Aziz Sarr inside a local McDonald’s with stab wounds. Despite efforts to save him, Sarr’s injuries were severe, and he was rushed to a trauma center where he was later declared deceased.
This violent event occurred in close proximity to Woodbine Beach Park, where a vibrant cultural festival was taking place over the weekend.
Initially, two 16-year-old youths surrendered themselves to authorities in the days following the incident, with a third 16-year-old coming forward on August 8. All three individuals have since been charged with first-degree murder.
Subsequently, on October 17, law enforcement arrested two more teenagers – a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old – on charges of first-degree murder, bringing the total number of apprehended suspects linked to Sarr’s death to five.
Due to legal restrictions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identities of the accused cannot be revealed.
