York Regional Police have taken action against a 30-year-old man, charging him with second-degree murder in connection with the tragic death of a Bowmanville resident in East Gwillimbury.
Responding to a distress call just before 11:30 p.m. on Friday, officers arrived at a residence on Queensville Sideroad East near Yonge Street. Initially reported as an assault-in-progress, the situation quickly escalated.
The victim, identified as 57-year-old Kurl Burry, was swiftly transported to a hospital where, sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.
At the scene, authorities apprehended a suspect. Jeantel Burry-Burgess faces charges of second-degree murder, assault (choking), and two counts of breaching probation. It is important to note that the allegations against the accused have not yet been proven in court.
In ongoing efforts to seek justice, investigators are urging potential witnesses to come forward and are actively reviewing nearby surveillance footage.
