Marco Donadel, a former midfielder for CF Montréal, has officially been appointed as the head coach of the Major League Soccer team, the club revealed on Tuesday.
Donadel stepped in as the interim head coach on March 24, taking over from Laurent Courtois who was dismissed following a lackluster start to the season where CF Montréal managed to score just two goals and conceded nine in the first five games.
Despite the challenging start, under Donadel’s leadership, the team managed to finish the season with a 6-10-18 record, positioning them in 13th place out of the 15 teams in the Eastern Conference.
Hailing from Conegliano, Italy, Donadel initially joined CF Montréal as an assistant coach on December 29, 2024, before being promoted to head coach. Prior to his coaching role in Montreal, Donadel had coaching experience in both Italy and Russia.
Expressing his gratitude and excitement, Donadel stated, “I am thrilled to continue my journey as the head coach of CF Montréal. This city holds a special place in my heart, having been both a player and now a part of the coaching staff. I am grateful to the club for their faith in me to lead the team forward.”
This announcement marks a new chapter for CF Montréal with Donadel at the helm, bringing his experience and passion to guide the team towards future successes.
