In the latest poll conducted by Pallas Data, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, the leader of Ensemble Montréal and a mayoral candidate, has solidified her lead over her competitors, positioning herself as the frontrunner in the upcoming election.
Martinez Ferrada garnered significant support from 33% of voters, while her main rival, Luc Rabouin of Projet Montréal, trailed with 18% backing. Interestingly, a substantial 30% of voters remain undecided just a week before the election on Nov. 2, as revealed by the survey conducted on Oct. 25.
The standings of other parties were also outlined in the poll results, with Action Montréal securing the third spot at 11%, followed by Transition Montréal at 6% and Futur Montréal at 3%.
Notable findings from the poll indicated a divide between francophone and non-francophone voters, with Rabouin and Martinez Ferrada each drawing support from about a quarter of the electorate. However, when focusing on non-francophone voters specifically, Martinez Ferrada emerged as the clear favorite with 46% backing, leaving Rabouin at a distant third with only 6% support.
The survey, conducted by Pallas Data based in Toronto, reached out to 608 voters via telephone. The firm reported a margin of error of +/- four percentage points in their findings.
With election day fast approaching, Montrealers are gearing up to cast their votes on Nov. 2 and determine the future leadership of their city.
