Réseau express métropolitain (REM) officials will be installing a guardrail on the overpass that was hit by a truck on Tuesday morning.
Service was partially shut down for two hours at around 7 a.m. Tuesday when a 53-foot truck hit the Marcel-Laurin overpass near Montreal’s Bois-Franc station.
A spokesperson for CDPQ Infra, who runs the REM, confirmed a protective guardrail will be installed on the overpass shortly.

“This is essentially a metal structure that will absorb any contact with an oversized vehicle, preventing contact with the structure itself. This installation will be carried out this winter,” wrote Francis Labbé, Assistant Director, Media Relations at CDPQ Infra in an email to CityNews.
“The guardrail is currently being prepared. It is made up of oversized metal parts that will be transported and installed,” he added.
Labbé is reminding drivers to stay vigilant in that area; the clearance height of the overpass is indicated on road signs.
Meanwhile, TVA Nouvelles obtained information from EXO which shows that when they were operating the Deux-Montagnes commuter train trucks hit that same overpass a dozen times.
