The ski season is off to a gradual start in Whistler. While enthusiasts eagerly await the full opening of the slopes, Whistler Blackcomb Resort has kicked off the season with the unveiling of the Wishbone run on Blackcomb Mountain last Friday.
Adam Mercer, Senior Patrol Manager, emphasized that as conditions improve, the resort will gradually expand its terrain offerings. He also cautioned against venturing outside the designated ski area boundaries due to potential hazards like rocks, trees, and construction equipment.
Despite just one run being available, Mercer advised skiers and boarders to be vigilant and considerate of others to prevent congestion and ensure a safe experience.
Looking ahead, Belinda Trembath, the resort’s COO, expressed optimism about opening more runs in the coming week. This milestone will mark the beginning of celebrations for Whistler Blackcomb’s 60th anniversary, scheduled for January 2026. Festivities will include a parade, fire and ice show, and a series of events throughout the season.
Further south, Cypress and Grouse mountains are slated to open next Friday, while Mount Seymour is expected to welcome visitors on December 12.
