“Quebec Unveils Bold Plan to Slash Infrastructure Costs by 15%”

The Quebec government is urging ministries and agencies to reassess their approach to infrastructure projects in a bid to cut costs by 15%. The call for review was made by Infrastructure Minister Benoit Charette during the Infrastructure Council’s Grand Forum.

Rising construction expenses in recent times have intensified the pressure on infrastructure initiatives, as highlighted by the government. Charette pointed out discrepancies in project design and implementation across different regions, emphasizing the need for standardization and optimization.

To drive efficiency in construction, Quebec is urging stakeholders to streamline requirements, establish benchmarks based on project types, and introduce standardized elements. The government also plans to consolidate similar projects under common programs to enhance resource sharing, plan reuse, and facilitate bulk purchases.

Charette emphasized the importance of fostering innovation within government teams to deliver top-notch projects that cater to Quebecers’ needs while ensuring optimal resource allocation. The province has allocated $19 billion for infrastructure this year.
