Police have announced that a total of nine individuals are now facing over 50 charges in connection with a significant drug and gun investigation spanning the Durham region and beyond.
The Durham Regional Police Service disclosed in a statement on Tuesday that multiple search warrants were executed in residences situated in Ajax, Oshawa, Toronto, and Lindsay on November 18. The operations were conducted by members of the gun and gang, as well as drug enforcement units.
During the raids, officers reportedly confiscated a cache of illegal items, including five handguns, over 700 grams of cocaine, 300 grams of fentanyl, 100 grams of MDMA, 90 grams of crystal meth, and $30,000 in Canadian currency.
In a related development, six men and three women were taken into custody as part of the investigation.
The authorities revealed that the probe was carried out in collaboration with the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, although further specifics were not provided.
The individuals involved are now confronting an array of serious charges related to drugs and firearms, with no information released on their upcoming court appearances.
