“Mastermind Behind Kap’s Café Shootings in B.C. Captured, Indian Authorities Confirm”

Authorities in Delhi have apprehended the main figure believed to be at the center of a series of shooting incidents tied to extortion at a café in British Columbia. The suspect, identified as Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon, had fled to India following charges in Ontario.

As discussions regarding extortion issues unfolded among politicians in British Columbia, Delhi Police Department’s crime branch disclosed the capture of 28-year-old Bandhu Maan Singh Sekhon. He had reportedly left Canada after his associates were arrested in Surrey following a crackdown by the local police.

Meanwhile, Peel Regional Police in Ontario had previously announced the release on bail of a man named Bandhumaan Sekhon from British Columbia in connection to similar offenses. The recent arrest in Delhi is considered a significant setback to organized crime networks, with Sekhon also being linked to an international arms trafficking case.

According to the Delhi Police statement, Sekhon confessed to his role in three shooting incidents at Kap’s Café in Surrey, owned by Indian comedian Kapil Sharma. Despite the café being targeted multiple times, no injuries were reported.

Federal Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree acknowledged the arrest during a meeting in Surrey, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to address criminal activities. The statement from Delhi Police pointed to Sekhon as the mastermind behind the attacks, with two other individuals identified as the shooters.

The incidents at Kap’s Café on July 10, Aug. 7, and Oct. 16, accompanied by widely shared social media footage, were attributed to the Goldy Dhillon gang, of which Sekhon is said to be a member. Authorities are actively investigating potential connections to other criminal activities in the region.

In response to the escalating extortion-related incidents, both federal and provincial governments have allocated $1 million in funding to assist law enforcement in supporting victims. Premier David Eby highlighted the importance of providing information and support to those affected by these crimes, emphasizing the need for a collaborative approach among authorities.
