Alek Manoah, a talented right-handed pitcher, is gearing up for a comeback to the major leagues with a new team. The 27-year-old athlete has signed a one-year, $1.95-million deal with the Los Angeles Angels, as announced by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. This contract guarantees his return to the big leagues.
Manoah’s journey took a turn when he was let go by the Toronto Blue Jays last September to make space for another player. Subsequently, he was picked up by the Atlanta Braves but was not offered a contract during the November deadline.
Having spent his career with the Blue Jays since being drafted in 2019, Manoah quickly rose to prominence in 2022, earning a spot on the All-Star team and impressing with his pitching stats. However, a rough start in 2023 led to a stint in the minor leagues, followed by surgery in 2024.
Despite the setbacks, Manoah showed promise in the 2024 season, pitching well in his limited appearances. A surgery to repair his elbow ligament kept him out of the 2025 season, but he has been steadily rehabilitating and is now poised for a return to the field.
The Angels, who recently hired renowned pitching coach Mike Maddux, are investing in Manoah’s potential to bolster their roster. With another promising pitcher, Grayson Rodriguez, also on board, the team is optimistic about their pitching prospects for the upcoming season.
