Toronto authorities are set to give an update to the public on Thursday afternoon regarding an armed home invasion and robbery that occurred in Etobicoke. The incident led to the apprehension of two suspects, while one is still at large.
The briefing is slated to take place at 1 p.m. at Toronto Police Headquarters. The investigation was prompted by a violent home invasion that occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday in the vicinity of John Garland Boulevard and Martin Grove Road, close to Finch Avenue West.
According to the police, the suspects forcibly entered a residence and took two sets of car keys belonging to the victims before fleeing in the stolen vehicles. One of the stolen cars was later involved in a collision with a police cruiser, leading to the suspect fleeing on foot, but being swiftly apprehended. A firearm was also recovered at the scene.
A second suspect was captured after officers located the other stolen vehicle near Weston Road and Highway 401. Authorities have confirmed that a third suspect is still on the run. It was highlighted by the police that they did not engage in a pursuit of the stolen vehicles during the incident.
