York Regional Police have announced the successful outcome of their extensive investigation, dubbed Project Wrangler, which led to the arrest of 13 individuals involved in a string of violent crimes spanning multiple jurisdictions.
According to authorities, between April 15, 2024, and March 20, 2025, a series of violent incidents, including murders, attempted kidnappings, armed carjackings, armed robberies, and armed home invasions, occurred in southern and eastern Ontario, as well as in Québec. The group behind these crimes was taken down through the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies.
During the course of the investigation, police executed six search warrants at various locations, resulting in the arrest of 13 individuals and the laying of more than 150 charges. Additionally, four firearms were confiscated as part of the operation.
While most of the suspects have been apprehended, two individuals remain at large and are the subject of a Canada-wide manhunt. Trestin Cassanova-Alman, 24, and Ingram Mohamed, 20, are wanted for multiple serious charges, including murder and participation in criminal activities.
In a recent development, authorities in Québec successfully apprehended three alleged accomplices of Mohamed, further unraveling the criminal network. York Regional Police are now seeking the public’s assistance in locating Cassanova-Alman and Mohamed, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in bringing these individuals to justice.
The success of Project Wrangler was hailed by York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween and other law enforcement officials from various jurisdictions, highlighting the collaborative and unified efforts that led to the operation’s success.
