Vancouver Park Board Hits Pause on Proposed Pickleball Mega-Facility Vote!

A plan to develop an indoor tennis and pickleball facility in Vancouver, known as the Vancouver Racquet Centre, hit a roadblock when a park board commissioner withdrew the motion during a recent meeting.

Initially proposed due to Vancouver having the fewest indoor racquet courts in the area, the idea called for covered courts to house eight tennis courts and twelve to sixteen pickleball courts.

Following a request from the Vancouver Park Board in November, the Vancouver Tennis Society (VTS) and the Vancouver Pickleball Association (VPA) were tasked with finding a suitable location for the facility.

Commissioner Scott Jensen revealed that the motion has been postponed while staff work on the proposal internally. A comprehensive report on the findings is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2026.

Both the VTS and the VPA have committed to funding the project, ensuring the facility would cater to indoor tennis and pickleball enthusiasts.
