East Vancouver Blaze Leaves Resident Homeless

An investigation is underway following a fire that erupted at a standalone residential property in the East Vancouver neighborhood.

Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services sprang into action after a concerned neighbor alerted them to flames and smoke billowing from the dwelling near Rupert Street and East 43 Avenue just after 11:30 a.m.

Both the resident of the house and a nearby neighbor credited a functioning smoke alarm with alerting them to the fire, enabling them to swiftly contact emergency services.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, firefighters managed to swiftly confine it to the single structure, deploying around 13 firefighting vehicles at the peak of the operation.

The property sustained substantial heat and smoke-related destruction, necessitating it to be secured with boards.

Regrettably, one individual was displaced by the fire, although fortunately, no injuries were documented.

Authorities are diligently working to determine the cause of the fire.
