During the holiday season, stress and burnout are common for many individuals. The dedicated team behind the locally-operated Fraser Health Crisis Line is prepared to provide support whenever you need it.
The compassionate staff and volunteers at the Fraser Health Crisis Line offer a range of services including emotional support, crisis intervention, and information on community resources.
Program Manager Julianna Baker reassures that it’s normal to feel overwhelmed during this time of year. “If you find yourself needing someone to talk to, don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here to listen and support you through your struggles,” Baker emphasized.
The call-takers at the Fraser Health Crisis Line are specially trained to handle various forms of grief, such as those stemming from overdose deaths or suicide. Their role is to guide callers towards the support they need and validate their emotions.
Baker notes that a growing number of calls this year have been related to financial struggles. “Issues like mental health concerns and thoughts of suicide are still present, but we’re also hearing more about worries regarding the economy, financial hardships, and the inability to take time off work due to financial constraints,” she explained.
The Fraser Health Crisis Line serves as a crucial first point of contact for individuals in crisis, assisting them in accessing additional support services. Navigating the system during tough times can be challenging, and the team aims to provide seamless referrals and connections for those in need.
Operated by Options Community Services, the Fraser Health Crisis Line operates around the clock, every day of the year, offering free and confidential assistance. If you need support, don’t hesitate to call 604-951-8855 or 1-877-820-7444.
