SAQ’s Profits Dip: Net Income Falls to $336.5M in Q2, Slipping 0.4% Amid Financial Headwinds

SAQ Reports Slight Decrease in Q2 Earnings for Fiscal Year 2025-2026

The Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ) disclosed a net income of $336.5 million for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2025-2026, concluding on September 13.

Despite this, there was a marginal decline of $1.3 million, or 0.4 per cent, in comparison to the same period last year.

The total sales figures saw a slight uptick of 0.4 per cent, reaching $950.3 million. However, the sales volume dipped by 4 per cent, totaling 50.7 million liters.

While sales at SAQ’s retail outlets and specialty stores grew by $14.3 million, or 1.6 per cent, from the previous year, there was a decrease in sales volume of 0.6 million liters, or 1.3 per cent.

Conversely, sales to wholesale and grocery stores experienced a decline of $10.7 million, or 14.8 per cent, compared to the same period last year, along with a reduction in sales volume of 1.5 million liters, or 20 per cent.

Government revenues saw a drop to $624 million, down by $8 million from the previous year’s quarter.

Debts owed to the Quebec Treasury amounted to $507 million, with an additional $117 million payable to the federal government.
