“Brace for Impact: Greater Toronto Area Faces Another Round of Severe Weather This Sunday!”

Residents in the Greater Toronto Area should brace for potentially hazardous weather conditions on Sunday, particularly in areas located north of Highway 401, and especially north of Highway 407.

CityNews Meteorologist Carl Lam has issued a warning of freezing rain expected in some regions during the afternoon and early evening, with the possibility of ice accumulation ranging from 5 to 10 millimetres. Such conditions could create risky travel situations, particularly on slippery bridges and overpasses.

Lam highlighted that the threat of icing is significant, particularly in locations like Innisfil, Keswick, Newmarket, Aurora, Minden, Haliburton, Orillia, Uxbridge, and Fenelon Falls, persisting until late Sunday night before transitioning to rain.

In Toronto, temperatures are slated to hit a high of 2°C on Sunday, with freezing rain anticipated to shift to rain showers by midnight across the entire GTA.

Looking ahead to Monday, the forecast indicates overcast skies with rain showers potentially changing to snow, accompanied by sustained winds ranging between 30 and 50 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h.

Meteorologist Lam emphasized the significance of this approaching weather system as it moves through the GTA, posing potential impacts on the region.
