A three-year-old boy is dead after being struck by a driver in Surrey Sunday night.
The Surrey Police Service says officers were called to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian on 64 Avenue near 138 Street around 8 p.m. where they found paramedics already treating a young child.
“But sadly, the child died,” said Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton.
He says the driver in the crash remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
Investigators “don’t have the full picture yet,” but Houghton says witness reports say the child was with his family and was on the street when the crash happened.
“At this time, the investigators don’t believe that speed or impairment were contributing factors to the collision.”
The SPS is asking any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have any information to share, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to please call 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-58317 (SP).
