Luc Rabouin Takes Helm at Foundation of Greater Montreal, Set to Drive Transformative Community Initiatives

Luc Rabouin, who recently ran for mayor of Montreal but was defeated, is set to become the new president and CEO of the Foundation of Greater Montreal (FGM). The foundation, established in 1999 and holding over half a billion dollars in assets across 800 philanthropic funds, made the announcement in a press release.

After his unsuccessful mayoral bid against Soraya Martinez Ferrada, Rabouin will assume his new role on Jan. 19. This transition comes following the retirement of former mayor Valérie Plante, whom Rabouin succeeded as the head of Projet Montréal.

Throughout his career in Montreal politics, Rabouin notably served as mayor of the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough and chaired the City’s executive committee. Prior to his political endeavors, he held roles at the Montreal Urban Ecology Center and the Caisse d’économie solidaire Desjardins.

Expressing enthusiasm for the opportunity, Rabouin described the FGM as a pivotal institution in the community and a leader in philanthropy across Montreal, Quebec, and Canada. The FGM board chair, Karen Macdonald, praised Rabouin’s leadership qualities and expressed confidence in his ability to guide the foundation into its next chapter.
