Police in Metro Vancouver are actively investigating three separate incidents involving vehicles striking pedestrians on Tuesday.
The first incident took place around 7:26 a.m. near Belmont Street and 6th Street in New Westminster, according to authorities.
Responding to the scene were the New Westminster Police Department (NWPD), in collaboration with New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services (NWFRS) and BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).
A male pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital, while the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
In a related development, the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service has assumed control of the investigation and is urging any potential witnesses with dash-cam footage to reach out to the authorities.
Following the investigation, the closed-off area has since been reopened to the public.
Meanwhile, in Surrey, the second incident occurred near the intersection of 152nd Street and 100th Street just before 2:30 p.m.
Surrey Police Service (SPS) Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton informed 1130 NewsRadio that the vehicle involved came to a stop, and there have been no reports of injuries. The driver remained on the scene.
Due to the incident, the westbound lanes on 100th Street are currently obstructed, with 152nd Street limited to a single lane.
Lastly, in North Vancouver, a pedestrian was hit by a car at 1 p.m. at the Lynn Avenue and Main Street intersection.
The North Vancouver RCMP disclosed that the victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
