Montreal’s agency in charge of parking meters is warning of a potential scam on some of their signs.
The Agence de mobilité durable de Montréal posted to social media on July 11 about potentially fraudulent QR codes on Montreal parking meters.
The agency is moving away from its current app, P$ Service Mobile, which people could use to pay for parking, to a new app, Mobicité. The new app was rolled out at the beginning of June.
They had put up signs on parking meters around Montreal to encourage people to download the app.

They emphasize that their signs don’t have a QR code, but some users have reportedly seen one posted on them.
The agency stated that if people see QR codes to avoid scanning them because “they could redirect you to malicious websites.”
“Our team is working to identify and remove them as quickly as possible,” the agency wrote.
