Three individuals were apprehended by the Surrey Police Service (SPS) following a shooting incident that took place in the Crescent Beach neighborhood of the city on a Sunday morning.
Law enforcement received reports of gunshots being fired outside a residence close to Crescent Road and 132 Street just before 4 a.m. Upon arrival, officers spotted a vehicle with individuals inside, who attempted to escape on foot, triggering a pursuit.
Thanks to the collaborative effort of SPS officers and personnel from the Delta Police Department, the trio was apprehended a short distance away near 28th Avenue and 140 Street, as they tried to flee in a rideshare vehicle.
Additionally, the Surrey Fire Services (SFS) were called to the scene due to a small fire on the property. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished without causing significant damage to the building, which had already been impacted by the gunfire.
Although there were occupants in the residence during the incident, no injuries were reported. Authorities have indicated that the shooting, believed to be linked to extortion, is under investigation by the SPS’s Major Crime Section.
The suspects are currently in custody, pending further developments, with no charges having been filed as of now. The SPS emphasized that the investigation is in its early stages, and efforts are underway to collect and analyze both physical and digital evidence.
Furthermore, two vehicles have been impounded by investigators, and individuals possessing CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or any relevant information are encouraged to reach out to the SPS for assistance.
