Two teenage suspects have been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a tragic double homicide in a First Nations community in northern Quebec. The 17-year-old boys, whose identities are protected due to their age, were accused of premeditated murder in the deaths of 30-year-old Bedabin Neeposh and 29-year-old Daniel Benac. The victims were discovered in a car with gunshot wounds in the remote community located 600 kilometers northwest of Quebec City.
The arrest of the teens, carried out by a tactical unit in the Cree community of Mistissini, shed light on the possible ties of the crime to organized criminal activities and personal vendettas. The violent incident deeply impacted the local Cree Nation of Mistissini, leading to a temporary lockdown of the community.
The suspects are expected to appear in court again today to face the serious charges brought against them.
