“Alaskan 7.3 Magnitude Quake Poses No Danger to British Columbia”

Emergency Info BC says there is no tsunami threat to B.C. after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of southern Alaska.

The U.S. Emergency Alert service says the quake hit around 1:30 p.m., more than 80 kilometres south of Sand Point — a tiny island near the Alaskan peninsula.

A tsunami warning has been issued for the Alaska peninsula and parts of south Alaska.

Emergency Info BC says officials have evaluated the earthquake and detected no threat to B.C.
