Montreal Takes Action: City to Review Four Bike Paths After Persistent Complaints

Montreal’s mayor, Soraya Martinez Ferrada, is taking steps to fulfill her election promise by initiating a comprehensive review of the city’s bike network to address potential safety concerns. The administration has announced plans for a detailed technical analysis of the current network, focusing initially on evaluating four key bike paths throughout Montreal.

In addition to assessing existing infrastructure, the city will also scrutinize upcoming bike path projects to ensure they adhere to safety standards, promote efficient mobility, and cater to the diverse needs of all users. Mayor Martinez Ferrada emphasized the importance of addressing recurring issues and complaints related to the bike network, highlighting the need for improved safety for cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists.

The audit of the bike paths is a key initiative that will leverage data collection and on-site observations to identify and mitigate safety risks. Among the four existing bike paths slated for review are [list the names of the paths].
