Authorities have brought charges against a staff member of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board as part of an investigation into child luring and sexual exploitation.
The individual in question, 50-year-old Michel Pleau, was apprehended on Friday following a thorough joint inquiry involving the police forces of Waterloo, Toronto, and Sudbury.
Pleau is currently facing several serious charges, including the possession, production, and distribution of child sexual exploitation material, as well as solicitation for sexual contact and enticing a minor under 16.
While the school board where Pleau is employed has been informed of his arrest, law enforcement has clarified that the alleged offenses do not involve any students from the Waterloo Catholic District School Board.
According to the board’s website, Pleau serves as the vice principal at St. Anne Catholic Elementary School in Kitchener.
In response to the situation, the school board issued a statement acknowledging the potential concerns within the community and affirming their commitment to collaborating with the authorities while providing support to their school community.
Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to step forward.
