A 17-year-old boy in Nanaimo faces charges following a shooting incident on Feb. 11, which left a 15-year-old teen hospitalized. Thankfully, the victim has since been released and is on the path to recovery.
The arrest of the suspect took place two days after the incident, with charges including discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possessing a firearm without a license, and possession of a firearm while being prohibited.
Despite ongoing efforts, the alleged firearm has yet to be located. Insp. Donovan Tait expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing the importance of addressing youth violence within the community.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the event.
