Glenn Miller, the leader of the local Junior Canadian Rangers patrol, is speaking out about the tragic mass shooting that took place in Tumbler Ridge. Among the victims were two young members of the patrol, Ezekiel Schofield and Maya Gebala.
Expressing his shock and sorrow, Miller shared his memories of Schofield and his admiration for Gebala. He reflected on the loss, acknowledging that no action can bring back those who were taken too soon.
Schofield, one of the five students who lost their lives at Tumbler Ridge Secondary, is fondly remembered for his vibrant spirit and infectious smile, which lit up every room he entered. Miller noted that Schofield was beginning to come out of his shell and find his confidence before the tragedy struck.
Gebala, who survived the shooting but is currently fighting for her life at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, is described by Miller as a joyful and humorous individual who always brought a smile to those around her.
The devastating event has deeply impacted the community, especially the young friends of the victims. Miller expressed concern for the children affected by the tragedy and emphasized the importance of providing support and counseling for them.
In response to the crisis, the Rangers are organizing a gathering with a counselor in Tumbler Ridge to offer assistance and comfort to those in need.
