Laval police seize drugs in crackdown on alleged ‘Greeks of Chomedey’ network

Police in Laval say they have seized large quantities of cannabis and other items as part of an ongoing investigation targeting an alleged drug-trafficking ring known as Les Grecs de Chomedey.

On Feb. 24, investigators with the Laval police (SPL)’s organized crime squad carried out a series of searches at five locations believed to be linked to the group. The operation focused on addresses in Laval as well as in Montreal.

Two homes were searched in Laval’s Chomedey district, along with two residences in the LaSalle borough and a business address in the Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal. The SPL was assisted by its Equinoxe squad, canine handlers and patrol officers, as well as the Montreal police (SPVM) tactical intervention unit.

Police say officers seized 32.5 kilograms of dried cannabis, 4.2 kilograms of edible cannabis products and 11 bottles of cannabis syrup. Investigators also confiscated an imitation handgun, 10 cellphones, a GPS tracking device, a drone, a computer, more than $5,000 in cash and fraudulent credit cards.

No arrests have been made. Police describe the searches as the first phase of a broader investigation that remains underway, adding the operation reflects ongoing efforts to disrupt organized crime activity in the region.

Anyone with information related to drug trafficking is asked to contact the SPL Info-Police line at 450-662-4636 or call 911.
