Two young men have died and a third is suffering from serious injuries after a crash near Mission Thursday evening, the RCMP says.
Police were called to Norrish Creek Forest Service Road around 9 p.m. after an injured man flagged down a motorist. When they arrived, they found a truck had crashed down an embankment.
“The man — who was found around the 7-kilometre mark — said he had been a passenger in a truck with two friends when the truck crashed,” the Mission RCMP said.
“Mission Search and Rescue was called out, and despite the terrain and darkness, they were able to locate indications of where a vehicle had left the gravel roadway.”
They found the truck around 300 feet down the embankment in the creek below.
“Sadly, both of the remaining occupants died as a result of the crash,” police said.
“The man who made it to the roadway suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.”
All three men were 22 years old and residents of Abbotsford. They had been camping in the area with other friends.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Anyone who saw the truck — a red Ford Ranger with a black canopy — in the area on Thursday is asked to call the Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161 and quote file number 25-8509.
