Snow on the way for Montreal as temperatures swing through the week

Montrealers woke up to sunshine Sunday morning, but the clear skies won’t last long.

Environment and Climate Change Canada says clouds will increase through the morning, with periods of snow expected to begin late this afternoon.

Wind will become northeast at 20 kilometres per hour, gusting to 40 km/h later in the day. The temperature will reach a high of zero degrees Celsius, though the wind chill will make it feel closer to minus-10 C early this morning. The UV index is three, or moderate.

Snow is expected to end this evening before skies turn cloudy overnight.

Winds will shift from the northeast to the southeast at 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h late tonight, and temperatures will climb to about six degrees Celsius by Monday morning.

Monday will bring a mix of sun and cloud, with a few showers beginning in the morning and ending in the afternoon. Southeast winds of 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h are expected, with a high of 12 C and a UV index of four, or moderate.

Rain and windy conditions are forecast Monday night, with temperatures dropping to minus-1 C.

Colder weather returns Tuesday, with flurries and windy conditions expected. The high will be minus-2 C before temperatures fall to minus-13 C overnight under cloudy periods.

Sunshine is expected Wednesday with a high of minus-2 C, followed by cloudy skies and a low of minus-4 C overnight.

Thursday’s forecast calls for snow or rain and a high of plus-4 C. Periods of snow or rain are expected to continue into the night with a low of minus-4 C.

Friday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high of plus-4 C. Cloudy skies and a 60 per cent chance of flurries are expected overnight with a low of minus-4 C.

Saturday is expected to remain cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high of zero.
