SQ Urges Vigilance Across Roads, Waterways, and Trails Amid Rising Safety Concerns

As every year, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is very visible during the construction holidays, whether on the road network, on bodies of water or on trails.

The number of fatal and injured collisions is always particularly high during this time of summer. Last year, 14 people lost their lives on the road during the construction holidays; four deaths involving off-road vehicles were recorded.

About a third of Quebecers are on vacation during the construction holidays, which officially run from July 20 to August 2 in 2025.

The Sûreté du Québec is asking vacationers not only to travel safely, but also to practice their recreational tourism activities in compliance with the rules in force, including wearing a helmet or life jacket when the situation requires it.
