A man is recovering in hospital after a violent attack early Thursday morning in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough.
Montreal police say they received multiple 911 calls around 2:30 a.m. reporting a man allegedly waving a blunt object and making threats near Monk Blvd. and Parc Garneau Street.
Officers arriving at the scene found a man unconscious on the ground with injuries to his upper body. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and is now reported to be stable.
Police say the suspect allegedly struck the victim with the object before fleeing the area in a vehicle prior to their arrival.
A canine unit was called in to assist with the search, and a forensic technician examined the scene. No arrests have been made.
The investigation remains ongoing.
