27-year-old man critically injured after being struck by car in Montreal North

A 27-year-old man was critically injured after he was struck by a car early Sunday morning in the Montreal North borough.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 12:45 a.m. about the collision near Léger Boulevard and Langelier Boulevard.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the man unconscious with injuries to his upper body. He was taken to hospital in critical condition. As of 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, doctors do not fear for his life.

According SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant, the driver of the car, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly travelling west on Léger Boulevard.

“The 27-year-old had just parked his car and was getting out of the vehicle on Léger Boulevard,” Brabant said. “And it’s at that moment that the collision occurred.”

The driver remained on the scene. She wasn’t injured, but she was under shock and was met by paramedics.

According to police, no criminal element is suspected. Alcohol and speeding were not involved, Brabant said.

Investigation is ongoing.
