Snowbirds to fly over Bell Centre before Game 3 of Canadiens-Hurricanes

The Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds will fly over Montreal for a second day in a row on Monday, just before Game 3 of the series between the Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes.

The aerobatic team will fly over the Bell Centre around 6:15 p.m., just under two hours before the start of the game between the Canadiens and the Hurricanes. Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final, which is tied 1-1, will begin at 8:00 p.m.

The approximately 21,000 fans who will converge on the Bell Centre in the early evening will therefore be able to observe the planes passing by before entering the arena.

And since the Canadiens broadcast their home games on giant screens in front of the Bell Centre during the playoffs, traffic is likely to be very high on Avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal in the early evening.

On Facebook, the Snowbirds pointed out that there will be “two legendary teams in red, white and blue” in Montreal on Monday night, “one in the air, the other on the ice.”

On Sunday, the Canadian Forces demonstration team flew over the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit before the start of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix.

This could be the Snowbirds’ last visit to Montreal for some time. The squadron is in its final season with its CT-114 Tutor jets, which will be retired and replaced in the early 2030s by modern CT-157 Siskin II aircraft.
