A woman was found dead in Mission on Sunday, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is now investigating it as an alleged murder.
The Mission RCMP says that officers located the deceased woman’s body shortly after being called to a house at 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Dewdney Trunk Road and Harms Street.
Inside the home, Mounties also found a man with non-life-threatening injuries who was transported to the hospital by BC Emergency Health Services.
“Evidence at the scene led investigators to determine that criminality was a factor in the woman’s death, and as a result, IHIT has been deployed to assume conduct of the investigation,” said Cpl. Harrison Mohr in a written statement.
Police believe it to be an isolated incident and that there is no further risk to the public.
Both victims are residents of the home.
CityNews visited the scene on Monday and noticed that the home had a “For Sale” sign on the front lawn.
“IHIT is working closely with the Mission RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to advance the investigation,” Mohr said.
Witnesses are asked to contact police at 1-877-551-4448.
