Grizzly Encounter Turns Terrifying: Man Severely Injured in B.C. Wilderness Attack

B.C.’s Conservation Officer Service (COS) says a man has been left with significant injuries after being attacked by a grizzly bear Saturday afternoon.

A couple was e-biking along the Kootenay River close to West Creston around 4:30 p.m. when the woman heard her husband screaming.

She then saw a grizzly bear running towards her.

She was able to deter the bear using bear spray, but then noticed a second grizzly attacking her husband. She once again deployed bear spray, causing both grizzlies to run away.

Emergency crews were dispatched and the man was taken to hospital in Cranbrook. He then underwent surgery.
