As Montrealers get ready to celebrate the Fête nationale du Québec and Canada Day, many businesses and services will be operating on reduced hours or closed entirely.
On June 24 and July 1, most federal and provincial government offices, banks, Canada Post, schools, shopping malls, the SAQ and SQDC will be closed. Large grocery store chains will also shut their doors for the day.
Trash collection in the boroughs of Lachine, Ville-Marie, Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension are either cancelled or rescheduled.
Sports and culture centres hours may vary by borough.
Some essential services will remain available. Pharmacies, depanneurs, gas stations, hospitals, movie theatres, ecocentres and public transit will continue to operate, though often on modified schedules. Public transportation will run on a holiday schedule.
The Biodôme, Biosphère, Jardin botanique, l’Insectarium and Planétarium will be open.
Residents are encouraged to check the hours ahead of time or purchase tickets online to avoid long lines.
This year’s the Saint-Jean Baptiste annual parade will start from the intersection of Rachel Street East and Molson Street and proceed eastward through Rachel Street ending at D’Orleans Avenue.
