A new 10,000-seat arena is coming to Surrey, and the Vancouver Giants are expected to be the venue’s anchor tenant, Mayor Brenda Locke announced Tuesday.
Locke says this development will help define the future of Surrey’s downtown area.
“This project will also include a high-end hotel, conference space, and housing, creating a true sports and entertainment district to attract investment and economic growth in our city,” she said.
“A project of this scale needs a perfect location, and we have found it, right next to City Hall and the Surrey Central SkyTrain station.”
The mayor says the property for the project was secured through a “strategic land swap involving city-owned parcels.”
“We completed not one, but two independent appraisals to ensure a fair deal for both parties in the negotiations,” she said.

The venue is expected to be completed by 2030 at an estimated cost of $360 million. Locke says the funding was provided in Surrey’s 2026 budget, with the benefits expected to be “significant.”
“We expect this project to generate about $2.4 billion in economic activity over the next decade,” she said.
“It will also support 1,200 jobs in Surrey and more than double that right across our province.”
The arena is a major part of Surrey’s City Centre Plan, which was approved in 2017 and updated several times since then.
