Thousands of kilos of illicit drugs, chemicals seized, Burnaby RCMP says

The Burnaby RCMP says it has seized more than 6,700 kilograms of precursor chemicals commonly used to make fentanyl, as well as finished product, after an investigation by its Gang Enforcement Team.

A traffic stop on July 30, 2025, resulted in the seizure of around four kg of precursor chemicals, police say.

“BGET continued to investigate the driver of the vehicle, which produced three more suspects and several crime scenes,” Mounties said in a news release.

On April 1, police executed five search warrants at five sites simultaneously, the news release says.

“Three of the sites were residences, while two were Sea Can containers, and all five sites were in Richmond,” it said.

The RCMP says the finished product includes methamphetamine, fentanyl, and oxycodone.

Police say they also seized more than $30,000 in cash, two vehicles, several firearms, ammunition, and 2,900 contraband cigarettes.

“These search warrants resulted in the dismantling of an alleged operational drug production network and the seizure of a plethora of precursor chemicals, finished product, and weapons,” said Sgt. Jamie Belleville.

“The coordination between internal and external policing partners on this investigation highlights the efforts that our local law enforcement will undertake to ensure public safety.”

Mounties say the investigation is ongoing.
