Two pulled from Lachine Canal during overnight rescue operation

Two people were rescued from the Lachine Canal overnight following an emergency response by the Montreal Fire Department.

The initial call came in at 11:55 p.m. reporting two people in the water.

The Montreal Fire Department said its rescue boat located the two victims with the help of sonar before they were turned over to paramedics.

A Canadian Coast Guard boat was also at the scene.

According to the fire department, the operation concluded at approximately 2 a.m.
