Former B.C. Liberal Mike Bernier Takes Helm as New Leader of CentreBC Party

CentreBC, a relatively new political party, made an exciting announcement on Saturday appointing former B.C. Liberal MLA Mike Bernier as its new leader, succeeding founding leader Karin Kirkpatrick who stepped down in June.

Expressing his motivation for taking on this leadership role, Bernier stated, “I am stepping up to this role because, like so many British Columbians, the two parties on offer do not represent my values. I am excited to play a part in building a safer, more affordable, and more prosperous B.C.”

Bernier brings a wealth of experience to this position, having previously served as the Minister of Education and MLA for Peace River South. With a vision for a socially progressive and fiscally responsible government, he emphasized the importance of promoting economic growth while safeguarding the province for future generations.

Speaking on the party’s mission, Bernier highlighted CentreBC’s focus on uniting a diverse coalition of individuals and fostering inclusivity rather than exclusion based on rigid ideological tests. The party aims to pave a new path forward for British Columbia that benefits all its residents.

Looking ahead, CentreBC is actively strategizing and laying the groundwork to vie in the upcoming provincial election, positioning itself as a viable alternative for voters seeking a fresh perspective in governance.
